Between 2021 and 2024, hundreds of buyers lost deposits on projects that were never built. The agents who sold them collected their commissions and opened new offices. American Realty never sold one of those projects.
Between 2021 and 2024, developers across Tulum and the Riviera Maya were paying 8–10% commissions on pre-sale deposits. Agents collected at signing and moved on. Buyers put 30% deposits into projects with no demonstrated track record.
