For the past decade or so, Playa del Carmen has been the fastest growing city in Latin America. In calendar year 2002, it was the fastest growing city on the in the world. It is very well known in chic circles, welcoming the most cosmopolitan people from North and South America, Europe, and most recently, Asia, to its crystal clear waters and powder white sand beaches.
